Faculty Development Application Faculty Retraining Application

Funding for the retraining and development assistance program is provided by the County in an amount up to $30,000/year. Applications are due no later than April 15th prior to the academic period in which the activity will be pursued. Applicants will be notified by May 30th of each academic year if they are awarded financial support. Faculty may apply for financial assistance for professional development activities, including workshops, short courses, academic presentations, field research, seminars or other similar activities.

The first priority is retraining into disciplines or areas for which growth is expected. Therefore, tuition is granted for a retraining program first.

Areas the administration encourages retraining in are:

  • Information Technology
  • Cybersecurity

Additional areas are:

  • Radio and Television Production
  • Political Science
  • Computer Science
  • Geology
  • Geography

The monies that remain are then allocated to faculty development. If no one applied for retraining, then the entire $30,000 is allocated for development. Those that apply for development during the academic year are considered first for this money. If there is money remaining, it will then be allocated to summer development. Applications for summer development are due no later than April 15th prior to the summer this activity will be pursued. The amount of money available will vary each year. Applicants will be notified by May 30th if they are awarded financial support for faculty development.
