DEC Membership

The FA believes that a successful DE program depends on having a strong network of experienced faculty—including DE practitioners and healthy skeptics—working to ensure that the DE courses are of high academic quality.

The composition of the college Distance Education Committee (DEC) was significantly revised through an FA-governance collaboration to emphasize the academic role of the recommending body. DEC went from a 50-person body comprised mostly of administrators to a faculty-centric body with each campus governance body sending to two faculty members to represent them, in addition to the FA-appointed representative. It is the role of the DEC governance reps to serve as a liaison between DEC and their campus governance body.

As of fall 2023, this is the current composition of the college Distance Education Committee. Eight of the eleven current committee members are FA members.
