Promotion dates: Remember that page 1 of promotion forms are due on May 15, and the full applications are due on June 16 (because June 15 falls on a Sunday this year) for full-time faculty.
Commencement ceremony: The college will host Commencement on Thursday, May 22, and the FA encourages all members to participate to help honor and celebrate the achievements of our graduates who have been through so much. There are two ceremonies, at 10 am and at 2 pm, and the morning ceremony is already full.
Benefit Fund reminder to create or update your living will: The FA officers serve as trustees to your Benefit Fund and held our most recent meeting on March 28. Our legal provider, Mirkin & Gordon, reminds all FA members that our plan covers the preparation of living wills for you, your spouse, parents and parents-in-law. They have prepared a one-page flier with the basics about a living will and, when you are ready, you may contact Mary Kaffaga in our Benefit Fund office or contact Mirkin & Gordon directly (or call 516-466-6030).
Fall 2025 class dates: Please note that the fall 2025 semester starts on September 2 this year and the last class meeting date is December 19.
May 10 is the National Association of Letter Carriers annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive: For over 30 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive, collecting non-perishable food donations along postal routes. The Stamp Out Hunger food drive returns this spring on Saturday, May 10. Place a bag of nonperishable food next to your mailbox on that Saturday, and your letter carrier will take care of the rest. This is just one more way that our union siblings make a difference for neighbors in need.
Vote in your local school budget: Don’t forget to vote on your local school budget and in the local school board elections on May 20. The outcomes of these decisions make a real difference in the lives of our union sisters and brothers in K-12, so please be informed, active supporters of our local public schools.
Prescription drug claim forms: Prescription drug claims for 2024 must be received by Daniel H. Cook by April 30, 2025. The form is available on the Benefit Fund forms page on the FA website.
