Kate Browning has been endorsed by the FA's Executive Council for the 3rd Legislative District. The election takes place on Tuesday, May 25, and we encourage members who reside in that district to get out and vote!

At our April 8 meeting, the FA Executive Council voted to endorse Kate Browning for the Suffolk County Legislature's 3rd Legislative District.

The FA political action committee had previously met and screened the two candidates for this position: Kate Browning and James Mazzarella.

Both made evident to the committee that they are strong supporters of public education and working people, and both have long ties to the 3rd Legislative District.

During the Executive Council discussion and debate, a question arose regarding the decision making process. The FA's political action committee makes recommendations not based on political party affiliation but based on the candidates' records and/or positions on support for public education in general and the college in particular as well as on support for unions and the working people of Long Island.

This decision came down to Browning's long history of unwavering support specific to the FA, and thus Kate Browning won the endorsement of our Executive Council.

FA members who live in the 3rd Legislative District are strongly encouraged to go vote on Tuesday, May 25.
