FYI: Highlights from the Executive Council and other news of note

- Summer 2021 dates and adjunct/overload pay dates: According to payroll, these are the adjunct/overload pay dates for the summer:
—First six-week session (May 24 to July 1)—Pay dates 6/17, 7/1, 7/15
—Eight-week session (May 24 to July 15)—Pay dates 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29
—Second six-week session (July 6 to August 12)—Pay dates 7/29, 8/12, 8/26.
Counselors and PAs will be paid based on scheduled work assignments using the six summer pay dates: 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29, 8/12, 8/23.
Librarians and other assignments will be paid on five summer pay dates: 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29, 8/12.
- Promotion dates: Remember that page 1 of promotion forms are due on May 15, and the full applications are due on June 15 for full-time faculty.
- Vote in your local school budget: Don't forget to vote on your local school budget and in the local school board elections on May 18! The outcomes of these decisions make a real difference in the lives of our union sisters and brothers in K-12, so please be informed, active supporters of our local public schools.

National Association of Letter Carriers sponsors annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive: This year, due to the pandemic, rather than set aside a Saturday for picking up food donations, the union representing U.S. postal service letter carriers is asking that we simply donate what we can to a local food pantry. Find food pantries on the NALC website; two major ones on Long Island are Island Harvest and Long Island Cares.
- Commencement ceremony: The college will host a virtual commencement on Thursday, May 20, and the FA encourages all members to participate to help honor and celebrate the achievements of our graduates who have been through so much.
- Fall 2021 classes start dates: Please note that the fall semester starts on September 2 and the last class meeting date is December 23.
