In May we celebrated the career and service of former FA president Kevin Peterman (class of '71). More than 50 people attended the event to wish Kevin well, including longtime FA president Ellen Schuler Mauk and a number of elected officials. Many spoke about Kevin’s 42-year career at SCCC and his 36-year tenure as an EC rep, secretary, executive vice president and president of the FA. Throughout his tenure, Kevin has seen the college transform from one to three campuses, helped negotiate six FA contracts and saw the inaugurations of six SCCC presidents. Thank you, Kevin, for your contributions in creating a strong union through which we all benefit. Your service and dedication to labor and education have been exemplary. Best wishes for an enjoyable retirement. To celebrate Kevin’s career and legacy, a scholarship has been established in his name. The Kevin Peterman Labor Leadership Scholarship will help a student attend SCCC who either has labor/union background or is the child of a parent who has been a member of a union.
