Running an election during a pandemic when most of our union members are working remotely is no easy task, and it wasn't without a few bumps in the road. But we are grateful to Kerry Carlson for serving as acting chair of the elections committee this spring, as I was running for re-election. Our gratitude also goes to our committee members this spring who counted ballots and carried out the other duties as outlined in the FA Elections Procedures. The committee members are below, and those with an asterisk also counted ballots on Friday, May 7.
I mentioned a few bumps along the way. The table below identifies the positions up for election this year, the incumbent or outgoing reps and the re-elected or newly elected officers, delegates and EC representatives. You'll see a number of vacancies here. Between the pandemic/remote semester and the truncated timeline this February between the call for nominations and close of nominations, a number of EC reps who had intended to continue as a rep missed the close of nominations deadline. We will address this situation as outlined in our FA Elections Procedures, which means that we'll hold special elections to fill all vacancies early in the fall semester. We are grateful to all members who accepted their nominations for various positions; this shows a healthy interest in the life of our union! Please join me in extending congratulations to both our returning and our newly elected officers, delegates and EC reps (newly elected individuals are in bold font).
