Health Advocate is a free, special benefit offered by the FA to eligible members to help simplify their lives. Members report Health Advocate reps as being fast, friendly and thorough with their assistance.

Our members have spoken—Navigating the healthcare system can be confusing and frustrating at times, whether it involves our health coverage through EMHP or our supplemental health benefits provided through the FA Benefit Fund.

Our members have also spoken up about needing more services provided so they can focus on being the best professors and PAs, librarians and counselors, and coordinators and specialists they can be.

We've heard you!

That's why the FA Benefit Fund provides our eligible members with a special benefit called Health Advocate. This program exists to help you and your family navigate the healthcare system and help you with issues involving your medical, hospital, vision, dental, pharmacy and other healthcare needs.

The FA Benefit Fund has paid for Health Advocate’s services for all eligible members, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law.

Thus, there is NO COST for eligible FA members and their families to use Health Advocate.

Call Health Advocate toll free—866-695-8622—to speak with a personal health advocate (PHA). After obtaining the necessary background information, your PHA will begin working on your question or problem with the utmost confidentiality.

You may call as often as needed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. After
hours and on weekends, leave a message and the on-call PHA will return your call.

Health Advocate complements your basic health coverage by providing a range of services, including the following:

  • Clinical services: find the best doctors and hospitals, locate and research treatments for complex medical conditions

  • Administrative services: resolve healthcare claims, help members save money on healthcare bills, navigate the claims paying process, assist with correcting billing mistakes

  • Health coaching: prepare patients for appointments, answer questions and provide information, help members better understand their conditions

  • Information & service support: obtain health information to make informed decisions, help complete qualification applications, identify and coordinate/arrange for wellness services.
