Each spring the FA holds elections for positions on the Executive Council in accordance with our Elections Procedures. In odd-numbered years, it's half of the EC reps plus all officer and NYSUT/AFT delegate positions. Since this is an even-numbered year, we are hosting elections for the other half of the EC.
Below is the election timeline as well as the specific positions that are up for election.
To make a nomination, follow the instructions when completing and returning the official nominations form, available below as a Word file for electronic submission and as a pdf file for printing and signing.
Election timeline
- February 1, 12 pm — Call for nominations: Use Nomination 2024 - Word to submit via email or use Nomination 2024 - pdf to print, sign and submit in person or by mail or interoffice mail
- March 2, 12 pm — Close of nominations: Nominations must be submitted to elections committee chair Cynthia Eaton by email or to the FA office in writing.
- March 18, 12 pm — Accept/decline due from all nominees
- March 28, 12 pm — Candidate statements due (if needed)
- April 11, 4 pm — Ballots mailed to members' homes via US Postal Service
- May 2, 11 am — Close of voting; ballot counting begins at 11:30 am
- May 9, 3:45 pm — Certification of election results at EC meeting
- May 30, 1 pm — Term begins for newly elected EC reps
In the case of full time campus-based EC rep positions, elections will be held by an FA member designated within that department.
