FA elections: Don’t forget to vote in this spring’s EC elections! The list of areas in which elections are being held this year is in the February WORD: at fascc.org, click Documents, then The WORD.

Things to know:

• Close of voting for our 2014 election cycle is May 6.
• Do not bring your ballot to the FA office; this will invalidate your vote.
• Follow the instructions on the ballot and send it via U.S. postal service.
• Only members who have completed a voter registration card and enrollment form are eligible to vote.
• If you haven’t submitted the above forms and wish to vote in future elections, contact the FA office at 451-4151.
  

Mark your calendars and vote on your local school budget May 20: Learn more about specific district funding on the NYSUT website. Go to www. nysut.org, click Resources, then Legislative Action Center and School Aid Data.

Spring community outreach activities: The FA’s community outreach team is not only continuing the popular Professors on Wheels program but also a special event for Earth Day in April. Contact outreach coordinator Tim McHeffey (tim@fascc.org) to learn more!

Mandatory online training for all employees: The college has contracted with Workplace Answers to provide online employee training in various subject areas, such as unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace violence, bullying and FERPA and OSHA compliance.

All college employees, both full- and part-time, are required to take the training over the course of three semesters, beginning this semester and concluding in spring 2015.

The first email from Workplace Answers will instruct you to register for your first two courses, “Unlawful Harassment Prevention for Higher Education” and “Title IX Awareness and Violence Prevention for Higher Education.” You must complete these courses by June 1, 2014.

It is the college’s?and the FA’s?hope that these educational programs will help raise awareness so we can have a safer, more respectful, and more collegial workplace.
