Last spring FA officers and members joined Ina Casali, adjunct assistant professor of English and current Executive Council rep, to help with the Garden View Project. Casali, a Navy veteran, is advisor to the Grant Campus chapter of the Student Veterans Association (SVA), which developed the project. The goal last year was to clear an area and plant a garden for a more serene and enjoyable view for the veterans residing in Building 92, the Community Living Center, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport. The FA joined the Grant SVA plus over 50 individuals in the SCCC community to create the garden. "Many of these veterans have no visitors," Casali notes, "and this is our way of reminding them they are not forgotten." This year, on April 29 from 10 am to 4 pm, the FA will participate in the 2nd annual Garden View Project and head back to the VA in Northport to do a garden clean up and plant more perennials. The college's SVA chapters will also install a memorial plaque dedicating the garden to all veterans. Please join us! No need to RSVP. Just come to Building 92 at the VA Medical Center and please consider the following:
