June 2026
Woo hoo! We made it through the 2025-26 academic year, colleagues. The FA, as always, thanks all of our adjunct faculty for their dedication and hard work at the college. We would not be successful without you. This update covers the contract survey, FA excellence in adjunct service awardee, ADA compliance extension, checking email, technology training over the summer and important dates. Contract negotiations survey FA President Dante Morelli sent the contract negotiations survey link in an email on May 19 and again on June 1. There is a dedicated adjunct section in the survey covering questions that are unique to the adjunct experience. Complete this survey by June 14 for your voice to be heard in the upcoming contract negotiations. FA Award for Excellence in Adjunct Service Let’s give Joshua Perl a hand for receiving the FA Award for Excellence in Adjunct Service this year. Congratulations, Joshua! We thank you for your service. The award was announced at the April 10 FA celebration of activists and retirees. ADA compliance extension The ADA compliance deadline has been extended to April 2027, and you can find this announcement/information in College Brief 92 emailed on April 23. This gives faculty more time to work on compliance in their courses over the summer. Check out the December The WORD article “2026 ADA compliance regulations: What, why and who” for resources to meet the 2027 compliance deadline. This is a reminder that the official college communication is via sunysuffolk.edu email. This means you should check your SCCC email account regularly for the following reasons:
I can’t stress the importance of keeping up with your college email in a timely fashion. Get tech ready this summer Information Technology Services (ITS) sent a College Brief on June 1 with information on how to get free tech training this summer. From the Suffolk Login Portal, click the Suffolk Help tile (if it doesn't appear, type help in the search box). In the Suffolk Help portal, click the ITS Training button for their schedule, recordings and articles or to request training, which is even offered on an individual basis by request. The IT trainer can assist you with setting up your Brightspace course and making content ADA compliant. Virtual and in-person appointments are available; the IT training office is located on the Ammerman Campus in Riverhead 346.
Faculty can access the FA calendar on the FA website to see other upcoming essential dates at any time. |
