FYI: Updates from the Executive Council and other news of note
-
The FA is looking for a new treasurer: FA Treasurer Pete DiGregorio is resigning on June 8. The FA Bylaws Article V states that in the event of an officer vacancy (other than president) and more than one year has elapsed since the election, the president will notify the Executive Council (EC) of the vacancy and appoint a search committee to present candidates to the EC for approval. The candidate chosen by the EC will then serve the remainder of the unexpired term of office.
Questions about what’s involved in being an FA officer can be directed to any of the current officers; questions about serving as treasurer should be directed to current treasurer Pete.
The duties of the treasurer are identified in the FA Bylaws Article II.A.4 as follows:
- Receive, hold, disburse, and maintain accurate records of all Faculty Association funds.
- Disburse funds through checks cosigned by the President or other designated officer.
- Chair the Budget Committee and prepare a proposed annual budget in conjunction with that committee and submit a monthly financial statement to the Executive Council.

- Ensure that each member receives a copy of the approved budget and of the annual financial report.
- Arrange for the annual auditing of the Faculty Association books.
- Supervise activities of the Faculty Association bookkeeper.
- Ensure, in collaboration with the Secretary, that a current listing of the membership of the Faculty Association is maintained.
