Vote! Elections and the Executive Council restructuring

Donna Krompinger, Acting Elections Chair

  VOTE with FA logo

I am serving as acting elections committee chair for the Faculty Association, and we have an upcoming election.

As per the FA Elections Procedures, I invite you to a general membership meeting this Thursday, April 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. on Zoom. The Zoom meeting link is in an email I sent to all dues-paying members* last Thursday.

The meeting agenda is as follows:

  1. Review the election procedures and timeline
  2. Introduce the Executive Council (EC) restructuring proposal, which was explained in the February issue of The WORD
  3. Give each of our candidates an opportunity to introduce themselves by reading their official candidate statements.

Please attend so you are familiar with the voting process. All current dues-paying FA members will be sent an official election ballot, the full EC restructuring proposal and an election edition of The WORD which contains all candidate statements, mailed to their home address as listed in the FA’s records. I anticipate these will be mailed by the union printer no later than this Friday, April 11.

Follow the ballot instructions carefully. Your ballots are due Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at the FA post office box, so be sure to get them in the mail with plenty of time to arrive back to us.

Here are the candidates for each position:

  • Candidate for president: Dante Morelli
  • Candidate for executive vice president: Courtney Brewer
  • Candidate for secretary: Cynthia Eaton
  • Candidate for treasurer: Peter DiGregorio
  • Candidates for grievance officer: John Capurso and Bruce Seger
  • Candidate for adjunct coordinator: Kim Ng Southard
  • Candidates for NYSUT/AFT delegates: Kerry Carlson, Andrew Stone, Lisa Behnke, Joan Wozniak

Again, I encourage you to attend the general membership meeting to learn more about the candidates as well as the EC restructuring proposal before you cast your vote on it.

Don’t forget to vote and to give plenty of time for your ballot to reach the FA post office box before May 2 at 11 a.m.

* If you are not a dues-paying member or if you are unsure of your membership status, please contact Executive Vice President Courtney Brewer so that you can become a member and vote not only in future elections and future contract proposals but also be reassured of the benefits of union representation.
